Welcome to Berrow Benefice

Oh what a beautiful morning, and all good wishes to the lovely couple who Rev Julie is marrying this very day at Birtsmorton Church – they’ve definitely picked the right day for it.  And at Pendock School this afternoon (Friday 27th May) the Jubilee celebrations begin at 2pm with a Community picnic and talent show – do go along if you can.

This Sunday is a fifth Sunday so we’re trying something a little different to take advantage of the glorious weather – an open air service at 10.30am in the churchyard at St Faith’s Berrow.  And at St Faiths on Sunday 5th June a special service to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II – not forgetting Cakefest at Thistledown, opposite Pendock School the day before!  Lots to look forward to, lots to celebrate and lots to be thankful for – particularly all the hard work from our lovely volunteers helping to keep our churches and churchyards look good.

We continue to pray for the people of Ukraine, and Bishop John has asked us to send out this prayer into our congregations and communities;

Lord of all the earth,
be present with the people of Ukraine
at this time of danger, fear, and conflict.
Grant that wise and peaceable counsels may yet prevail,
and give to all suffering nations the freedom they desire and deserve.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

 Do keep an eye on either the calendar on this web site, or our parish magazine, for up to the minute news on our service schedule, and any changes which may come about as a result of tightening Covid restrictions.  We are looking to introduce a new rota of services for February, increasing our offering to two services per Sunday – watch this space for more news on this.

We  continue to hold Phone Church services at 7pm every Friday – click here for details on how to join us.

More good news is that our churches are still able to be open for private prayer, so both The Church of the Redeemer, Pendock Cross  and All Saints, Hollybush are now open from 9am to 5pm every day of the week.  And there are no longer any restrictions on the number of folk who may attend weddings, funerals or baptisms – apart from the capacity of each church building.  Do get in touch with Rev Julie in the first instance if you need help with planning any of these important life events.

Our Benefice covers the five parishes of Berrow, Pendock, Eldersfield, Birtsmorton and Hollybush that run along the south western-most boundary of the Diocese of Worcester.
