Welcome to Berrow Benefice

A huge thank you to all those who came along to the fab All Age Worship service last Sunday, bringing lots of donations for the Ledbury Foodbank which our guest speaker could take away with him.  We’re hoping to re-start collections in the porches of our churches at Eldersfield, Pendock Cross and Hollybush soon, so keep an eye out for the boxes and list of needed items.  Anything we can do to help will be much appreciated.

A very warm welcome back to Rev Julie and Bob after their all too short break on the beautiful Isles of Scilly.  Rev Julie is back in action this Sunday at 10.30am at Birtsmorton, leading our service of Holy Communion and reading lots of banns for our wedding couples, as wedding season is well underway now.  Then at 6.30pm, we have a service of Evensong from the Book of Common Prayer with hymns, psalms and canticles, led by David Allen.  All are very welcome to attend – and remember, our church buildings are gloriously cool in this lovely hot weather!

We continue to pray for the people of Ukraine, and Bishop John has asked us to send out this prayer into our congregations and communities;

Lord of all the earth,
be present with the people of Ukraine
at this time of danger, fear, and conflict.
Grant that wise and peaceable counsels may yet prevail,
and give to all suffering nations the freedom they desire and deserve.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

 Do keep an eye on either the calendar on this web site, or our parish magazine, for up to the minute news on our service schedule, and any changes which may come about as a result of tightening Covid restrictions.  We are looking to introduce a new rota of services for February, increasing our offering to two services per Sunday – watch this space for more news on this.

We  continue to hold Phone Church services at 7pm every Friday – click here for details on how to join us.

More good news is that our churches are still able to be open for private prayer, so both The Church of the Redeemer, Pendock Cross  and All Saints, Hollybush are now open from 9am to 5pm every day of the week.  And there are no longer any restrictions on the number of folk who may attend weddings, funerals or baptisms – apart from the capacity of each church building.  Do get in touch with Rev Julie in the first instance if you need help with planning any of these important life events.

Our Benefice covers the five parishes of Berrow, Pendock, Eldersfield, Birtsmorton and Hollybush that run along the south western-most boundary of the Diocese of Worcester.
