Cometh the hour, cometh the donkeys! We look forward to welcoming you and our wonderful donkey friends to Birtsmorton Church this Sunday to celebrate Jesus’ triumphal arrival into Jerusalem at the start of Holy Week. There will be donkeys, a procession, and an Open the Book drama, so we look forward to welcoming you all.
Your service sheet can be viewed or downloaded here, and please do remember to bring a face covering with you to wear whilst in church.
We’re up to Week 6 with our Lenten Compline series, and this week the psalm featured is another well known and much loved one – Psalm 121. The full reflection can be viewed or downloaded here, and your service sheet can be viewed or downloaded here. We meet at 7pm on Phone Church for a catch up chat, and at 7.15pm Doug will read a shortened version of the reflection and then lead our contemplative quiet service.
Our regular Wednesday service of Morning Prayer starts at 11am with the service, and leads onto a time of fellowship, fun and wide-ranging conversation once our service is done. Your service sheet can be viewed or downloaded here, and you are most welcome to join us.
After the excitement of being back in Church for Mothering Sunday we are back on Phone Church this Sunday with Rev Julie. She will be leading us in our usual 11am Sunday worship, and your service sheet can be viewed or downloaded here in landscape version or here in portrait version. As we start gearing ourselves for Holy Week, with Palm Sunday just around the corner, we look forward to welcoming you to our Sunday service.
Now we’re past Mothering Sunday, its all downhill towards Easter! This Friday, our reflection deals with a very familiar psalm, psalm 23, so it will be fascinating to hear Patrick Woodhouse’s take on it. David has done his condensed version of it, which you will hear on Friday night. You can also view or download the full version here.
Our service will take place on Phone Church, via Zoom, as usual. We meet at 7pm for a catch up chat, to see how everyone’s week has gone, and then David will read the reflection on this week’s psalm to us, followed by a time of silence to let the thoughts sink in and then into our quiet, contemplative service of Compline. This week’s service sheet can be viewed or downloaded here, and we look forward to welcoming you.
How very wonderful to be returning to our beautiful Church buildings in time to celebrate Mothering Sunday! We still need to socially distance, wear face coverings and sadly, still can’t sing – but even so, to be back admiring the daffodils in Eldersfield churchyard and to come together in worship on this special day is a real joy. And even better, Rev Julie will be leading us through this service of Holy Communion for Mothering Sunday.
We meet at 11am, and if you are able to print off and bring your order of service with you, that would be very helpful. It can be downloaded here in landscape format or here in portrait format, but spares will be available on the day if you need them. We very much look forward to welcoming you back to Church.
As we move through Lent, so we progress onward through Life in the Psalms, our Lenten book. This week’s theme is Wonder, and Doug has chosen Psalm 8 for its reflection on this theme. The full reflection can be viewed or downloaded here, which Doug will summarise for us before our service begins, then we will pause to let the thoughts and ideas sink in, before our regular service of Compline, but using Psalm 8 as part of its liturgy. You can view or download your service sheet here.
We meet at 7pm on Phone Church for the all important catch up chat, then Doug will lead us through our Lenten Compline. All are very welcome to join in the quiet and contemplative way to gentle yourself into the weekend.
Rev Julie is back – hoorah! – and she will lead us in worship this Sunday at 11am on Phone Church via Zoom. Its the third Sunday of Lent so we must be nearly halfway through….Join us to hear Rev Julie’s reflection on the readings of the day. Your service sheet can be viewed or downloaded here in landscape format or here in portrait format, and we look forward to welcoming you.
The third week of our series on the psalms, and David is leading us to look at Psalm 1. The full version of the original reflection can be viewed or downloaded here and your service sheet can be viewed or downloaded here.
We meet as usual at 7pm via Phone Church for a catch up chat, then David will lead our reflection on Psalm 1, leave space for us to think about what he’s just read, and then move onto our quiet and contemplative service of Compline to end the day. All are very welcome to join us.
This Sunday, we welcome the Archdeacon of Worcester, the Venerable Robert Jones, to join us on Phone Church via Zoom at 11am to share his reflections on the readings of the week with us. We are very much looking forward to his virtual visit, particularly as the Bishop of Worcester set such a high bar on Valentine’s Day. Your service sheet can be downloaded here in landscape format or here in portrait format, and we look forward to welcoming Robert – and all of you!
